The Merciful Love Crucificx was built by the sculptor Lorenzo Cullot Valera, in Spain, in 1931. The crucifix welcomes with its arms outstretched, waiting with serenity and encouraging to have trust.
The Jesus of Merciful Love on the cross reminds us of his sacrifice: the White host on the altar is the daily renovation of said sacrifice.
The cross is placed upon a globe, the world, on top of which is also a royal crown and an open book: the Gospel. In the book is written “Love each other how I’ve loved you”, and on the pillow that holds the crown is written “You are, Christ, the King of Glory.” Jesus of Merciful Love wishes to reign over the world, bringing it to love.
The expression on his face is characteristic as it transmits serenity, even in the midst of pain and suffering. Jesus, still alive on the cross, with his gaze towards the sky, seems to plead to his Father: “Father, forgive them as they do not know what they are doing”.
On his chest is his red heart with the word ”Charitas”. How large must his heart’s beats be to get him to be happy to suffer until death!
With his suffering he offers us proof of his incredible Love.
